Each year, the
American Association of Spinal Cord Injury Nurses (AASCIN),
upon receipt of appropriate nominations, recognizes a nurse in
each of three areas of spinal cord impairment (SCI) nursing.
The procedures and selection process common to the three
awards are described first, followed by the criteria specific
to each award.
Procedure
-
Any nurse
who meets the criteria may be nominated for an award.
-
Nominations
may be submitted by a member of AASCIN, or a professional
colleague, with the following exceptions:
-
During
their term, members of the Board of Directors and the
Membership Committee cannot nominate anyone for an award,
cannot be nominated for an award, and cannot write letters
of support for any nominee.
Selection
Process
-
All required
documentation must be complete.
-
The
Membership Committee will review and score each nominee.
-
The
Membership Committee will then present selected nominees to
the AASCIN Board of Directors for confirmation. A plaque will
be presented to the selected award recipient(s) at the
annual AASCIN conference.
-
The award
recipient will receive a grant and per diem to attend the
annual conference. If the award recipient is unable to
attend, the presentation will be made in absentia.
General
Information
-
The nominee
