Travel Funds
Do not include funds for travel for the purpose of presentation of findings in the budget. A limited fund for this purpose is available and requires submission of proof of the publication, or acceptance of the paper at an appropriate professional meeting. If total requests exceed annual travel funds available, travel fund requests will be reviewed and prioritized by the Research Committee Chair, in conjunction with the Executive Administrator of AASCIN. Travel funds cover direct travel fares, lodging, and registration fees. Investigators/Project Directors are eligible for travel funds for up to 2 years following completion of their project.

Reporting Requirements
All approved proposals must comply with the following requirements:
A Progress Report must be submitted within 30 days following
6 months from the official start date of the project. A Progress Report Outline and other appropriate guidelines and forms will be sent to the Principal Investigator/Project Director upon approval of the project. The report should describe the status of the project, as well as problems that may have been encountered. If unforeseen obstacles have been encountered, which have prevented the project from proceeding as planned, a revised timetable should be included. The Progress Report should include a Financial Statement of the 6-month reporting period. This statement must explain any deviation in spending between the approved budget and actual expenditures.
A comprehensive Final Report must be received by the AASCIN office within 90 days of completion of the project. A Final Report Outline and other appropriate guidelines and forms will be sent to the Principal Investigator/Project Director upon approval of the project. The Final Report must include a Financial Report of funds received and expenditures by budgetary line item. This statement must explain any deviation in spending between the approved budget and actual expenditures. Unexpended funds must be returned to the AASCIN office with the Final Report.
Funded projects should be completed within the grant period.
AASCIN grant funds are awarded to a specific Investigator/Project Director.

It is the responsibility of the Investigator/Project Director to complete the proposed project. If the Investigator/Project Director leaves the applicant institution during the study period, the AASCIN office must be notified immediately to determine the disposition of the grant.
Grantees are expected to submit an abstract for presentation of their findings or results at the AASCIN Annual Educational Conference.
Grantees are expected to submit an article about the project for publication in
SCI Nursing within 1 year following completion of the study. Any grantee wanting to publish findings in any journal with exclusive rights, must first contact the Chair of the Research Committee to discuss obligations. Any publication of project findings conducted with AASCIN grant funds must give proper credit to AASCIN, such as This research was supported by a grant from the American Association of Spinal Cord Injury Nurses.
AASCIN retains the right to publish an abstract of the completed project in
SCI Nursing, the official journal of AASCIN.
